Batteries Cheap

by Pete
(Ohio)

If you can get these batteries cheap...

If you can get these batteries cheap...

I saw some batteries cheap on Craigslist. They're used, but not very old. If I can get them a lot cheaper than new, should I do it? If not, why not?

Hi, Pete -

Um...just how cheap are we talking, here?

The reasons NOT to get used EV batteries: You don't know how somebody's treated them, they might not hold much of a charge. The leading cause of battery death is...

...(Dum, da-dum dum.) MURDER. Battricide, first-degree. Frequently a cheap charger is the murder weapon.

Another thing to consider is that they might not be equally used. One or two batteries in the pack could be older than the rest.

Having said that? If the batteries were cheap enough...I'd do it. What do you have to lose?

Regards,
Lynne
