Batteries for Electric Chevy S10 Conversion

by Erik
(Salmon Arm BC Canada)

I am building an electric Chevy S10 ExtCab 5 spd w/canopy:
What batteries would you recommend?

I was thinking in terms of 12 - 12 volt batteries.
I need to travel 30km each way to/from work - 60 km total along the Transcanada highway; so I am looking for 100km/h cruising and a few hills etc.

Hi, Erik -
In your DC conversion (144 volts), I would use 6v batteries to get the range you're looking for. 12v batteries will drain too quickly, especially on the highway.

You might consider an AC conversion for the distances, the speeds, and the hills. Check out this Toyota EV pickup on the EV Photo Album.

Regards,
Lynne
