Converting an Electric Boat

by Anon.
(US)

I have a 10,000 lb. boat with dual Volvo outdrives that are 1.89/1 with 14 by 15 props.

Would electric motors work here?

Yes.
Jack Knopf in Texas has built this yacht conversion with a 12 HP electric motor using 72v or so. He says acceleration is "slow", but his boat is considerably bigger than yours (20K lbs.), and he's apparently only got one motor.

An EV is an EV, whether it floats or rolls!

Regards,
Lynne
