Saturn SL2 Electric Car Conversion

I have been considering converting my 1999 Saturn SL2 to electric. This has an automatic transmission. I only drive 12Km to work every day and believe this conversion would be ideal for getting off gasoline.

Has this type of vehicle been converted and is there documentation of such a conversion?

Yes, this car has been converted to electric several times, though mostly the manual transmission version, not the automatic.

The Morehead High School Automotive Technology project last year was to convert a Saturn SL-2 to electric - they called it the Green Meanie. You can follow that link to get their contact information for full documentation.
