battery question
by: Anonymous

Could I put a 12 volt car battery on to my golf trolley the battery box could support the battery

For accessories? Sure. People do this all the time. Just put it on the trickle charger at the end of the day. You might want a deep cycle battery for this instead of a car battery though.

Switching from six 6 volt to six 12 volt batteries
by: Keith Branston

Yes I would replace on my Golf cart. It has 6 six volt deep cycle batteries in series to make a 36 volt system. I want to put in three 12 volt deep cycle batteries in series to make 36 volts. I will put another three 12 volt deep cycle batteries in series to make another 36 volts. I would join in parallel the first 3 batteries to the second set of 3 batteries. I would then have 36 volts from 6 twelve volt batteries. I would do this because I can buy the 12 volt batteries for half the price of 6 volt batteries. What do you think of this?

Keith,
I have always heard "parallel first, then series", meaning to wire the batteries together in parallel first, then those groups together in series - although I'm not exactly sure why. Perhaps someone with more knowledge than I about this can jump in and answer.

6v to 12v
by: edgar

so if 12volts had the same amps, etc totaling up as the 6volts, would it decline in performance?

If anything, the performance should improve because using 12v batteries should lighten it up some.
