If they can make an electric truck like the Nilola one , that can pull 40 tons ,and go 500 miles between charges, with twice the milage of diesel , why cant they make an electric R V motor home, that weights 5 tons ,like the old front wheel drive GMC Motorhome?

wet fuel to dry fuel by: jimmy
Hello everyone, I live in Scotland, and our fuel cost is 1.30 per litre, I fancy buying a motorised horse box of 3.5 tons and convert to battery power. I thought of putting in 4 electric motors, one powering each wheel so I thought of 500 w motors, but now think I could split that by 4 and make the overall wattage 500,it might be easier to put four 125 w motors and couple them to each wheel, that makes it effectively makes the vehicle a four wheel drive. Using the four wheels to make a quick start ,ie, traffic lights, but on motorways or dual roads, you could cut down to one or two, thus saving power . The horse box I would convert to camper style and have solar panels on the roof , and I am sure the motors could also be used to charge the batteries when not in use, any thoughts on this, i always say everything works in theory , but if someone has tried this I am all ears, thank you, Jim Dunn

Instead of an all electric you might consider some kind of fuel effecient Hybrid. For example: You could easily covert your engine to run on propane (if your interested I can show you a kit to make it run on water) and then, with solar panels on the roof, and maybe the sides, you can contiually recharge your batteries to run all your electric needs of RVing. With regentive braking you could also add power to your batteries while you are driving.
There is a myriad of things you can do when you think hybrid and green (low cost) fuels. If you live in Southern California I can hook you up with a great community group of Electric Car builders and teachers who would be glad to help you pursue your goals to go solar and/or go green.
yes, you can convert rv to electric. I have a 67 dodge travco I starting convering. My goal is to go coast to coast 1 tank of gas for a gen, to power motor. i also plan on starting a business converting rv's interested call me 1-386-661-2494 mike
