I'm thinking of doing a gas/electric hybrid conversion (using a small motorcycle engine to power the charging circuit) - My question is what resources are available out there to research that type of charger?
Hi, Joe - You don't need a different kind of charger for a hybrid than for an all electric vehicle - but you do need different charging algorithms for different battery chemistries. If you're building a series hybrid, you just get a PFC charger that's appropriate for the battery pack you've got on board.
My favorite resource for battery information, including charging, is Battery University.
